![]() I don't know where to go from here though. Here is a shot of me looking at the disassembler. I'm not even sure it's actually relevant though lol. The bottom part has my "progress" showing the stuff I've managed to scrape up with the disassembler. Oh, here is a small screenshot showing my current cheat table. I'm open to talking here, or on discord or voice chat, or whatever is easiest. I'm willing to work hard on this, and if anyone wants to help me in any way I would appreciate it. I'm just desperate for help and have no idea what I'm doing here. They all assume that by this point I know what I'm doing I guess?Īgain, I'm really sorry if this was just a big mess of a post. Every guide I've tried to read or watch never reaches this step. I assume this what I need to do, but I just don't know how to do it. I've been using the disassembler, but I don't actually know what I'm looking at. I've just been trying anything and hoping it works. But I don't actually know what to do from here. So I do 'what writes to this' then pick up the item and see 1 result that never changes so I thought I was making progress. My most recent experiments have been trying to learn how to use the "what writes to this address" stuff on the inventory slot the item gets placed in. I checked nearby anything that seemed relevant. I've also tried to browse memory regions for anything that looks like a table of item IDs but haven't gotten lucky yet. Eventually I got down to a nonchanging number, but it was still way too high to try and brute force. Then restarted my emulator and got back to that same point and did another search for 03. I did a search for the value 03 and a continuous "did not change" while doing a lot of stuff. I'll list the things that I've tried and hopefully someone will know what I'm doing wrong because I am desperate lol.įirst off, I tried doing just regular searching with CE. I've googled tutorials on how to use cheat engine, how to make a randomizer, all kinds of stuff. I've been working on it for about a week now and have been so stumped. I have absolutely no idea how to learn this information. "How does the game know to give me ID03?" And this is where my problem begins. So with this information, I was hoping to find where the game knows which item ID to use for this specific pickup. So for example, I know when I pick up a MP Recovery, it will make the value of 009BE34C = 03. I also found the addresses of the inventory slots that items are placed into. ![]() I was able to figure out the ID of every item in the game, including some unused ones too which could be fun. Once I learn how to do that I should be able to do it for every item right? What I'm trying to do is find the address of a single item in the game at the moment. I don't know what to google to learn how to do this. My biggest problem right now is I don't know.what I don't know. If there is a certain tool I should be using, or just general methodology or anything that would help me learn this I would appreciate it. I'm also using Cheat Engine to dig around in the memory since it's what I'm most experienced with, though it isn't really all that much. ![]() This is going to be a big post and I apologize and hope you'll bare with me.īasically, I want to make a randomizer for Parasite Eve 2, on PSX.Īfaik ePSXe 1.7 is the best emu to use for PE2 so that's what I'm using. ![]() ![]() I'm sorry, I don't really know how to ask the question I have. ![]()
